MASSOB plans Biafran state burial
Despite the state burial put together by the Federal Government in honour of the late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) says it has commenced moves for a Biafran state burial.
National Director of Information of the movement, Mr. Uchenna Madu made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen in Enugu at the weekend. He disclosed that the leadership of MASSOB would soon meet to decide the date for the burial.
Madu, however, expressed regret that some disgruntled politicians denied MASSOB the opportunity to participate in the burial of Ojukwu. The MASSOB spokesman said, the movement decided to calm down because it wanted to avoid bloody confrontation that might disrupt existing peace.
He expressed happiness that the Nigerian government gave their late leader a state burial, but warned that the recognition had opened another chapter in the struggle for Biafra. He insisted that the state burial given to Ojukwu was a big boost to the MASSOB struggle, stressing that the wounds of the war was yet to be healed.
He stated that the state burial given to Ojukwu was a confirmation that Nigeria had recognised the late Igbo leader.
